-69-Carbonated apatite honeycomb3030 Fabrication of Carbonate Apatite HoneycombOral Presentation9:00 AM–9:15 AM Mar 25, 2017CC, Room 3006 Authors:Authors:KunioIshikawa (Presenter)Kyushu UniversityMelvin Munar, Kyushu UniversityKanji Tsuru, Kyushu UniversityAbstract: Objectives: Interconnected poseur structure is one of keys to accelerate replacement of carbonate apatite (CO3Ap) artificial bone replacement to bone. In this study, feasibility of CO3Ap carbonate apatite (CO3Ap) artificial bone replacement to bone. In this study, feasibility of CO3Ap honeycomb fabrication was evaluated based on extraction method followed by compositional transformation through dissolution-precipitation reaction using CaCO3honeycomb as a precursor. Also, tissue response to CO3Ap honeycomb at bone defect was evaluated using experimental animals. Methods: Ca(OH)2powder was mixed with a wax based binder, and extracted through a honeycomb mold. The Ca(OH)2honeycomb was heated at 700°C to burn out the wax based binder and carbonate Ca(OH)2in the tubular furnace under O2-CO2atmosphere. Calcite honeycomb, thus prepared was immersed in sodium phosphate solution at 80°C for 7days for honeycomb, thus prepared was immersed in sodium phosphate solution at 80°C for 7days for compositional transformation from CaCO3to CO3Ap.Then, bone defect made at femur of rabbit was reconstructed with the CO3Ap honeycomb, and the honeycomb was taken out with surrounding tissue four weeks after implantation. Results: When Ca(OH)2mixed with wax-based binder was extracted through honeycomb mold, Ca(OH)2with wax-based binder honeycomb was made. When the honeycomb was heated at 700°C under O2-CO2atmosphere in a tubular furnace, wax-based binder was burned out and Ca(OH)2was carbonate, fabricating CaCO3honeycomb. When the CaCO3honeycomb was immersed in NaHPOsolution at 80°C for 7days, CaCOhoneycomb became COAp honeycomb immersed in Na2HPO4solution at 80°C for 7days, CaCO3honeycomb became CO3Ap honeycomb maintaining honeycomb structure through dissolution-precipitation reaction. When bone defect at the femur of the rabbit was reconstructed with the CO3Ap honeycomb, no inflammatory response was observed during the implantation period. At 4 weeks, all pore of the CO3Ap honeycomb was filled with the bone. Conclusions: CO3Ap honeycomb has a good potential value to be an ideal artificial bone replacement. This abstract is based on research that was funded entirely or partially by an outside source:source:AMED, 16im0502004hDisclosure Statement:The submitter must disclose the names of the organizations with which any author have a relationship, the nature of the relationship, and the clinical or research area involved.
