-52-CERASMART0390 Evaluation of Surface and Margin Characteristics of Two CAD Resin-ceramicsOral Presentation4:30 PM–4:45 PM Mar 22, 2017CC, Room 2011 Authors:Authors:NeerajSurathu(Presenter)SaveethaUniversityAbstract: Objectives: In an effort to bio emulate tooth structure, several new materials have attempted to harness the advantages of ceramics and resins in recognition of the unique material advantages that both these material classes offer. Two such resin-ceramic hybrids were recently introduced –Enamic-Group E (Vita Zahnfabrik) and Cerasmart-Group C (GC Corporation). A study was –Enamic-Group E (Vita Zahnfabrik) and Cerasmart-Group C (GC Corporation). A study was undertaken to compare the surface characteristics and margin integrity of these two materials. Methods: 10 Ivorineteeth conforming to a crown preparation of tooth 26 received restorations in both materials. The restorations were polished in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. Pre-polish and post polish surface characteristics were evaluated using tactile profilometryand the results were statistically evaluated. Surface characteristics were also assessed by SEM. In addition, marginal integrity was also assessed by SEM and the results were statistically evaluated. Results: Unpolished restorations in group C had a mean Ra value of 1.32 ±0.55µ, while Results: Unpolished restorations in group C had a mean Ra value of 1.32 ±0.55µ, while unpolished restorations from group E had a relatively higher Ra value of 1.9 ±0.39 microns. Polished restorations in group C had a mean Ra value of 0.71 ±0.2 µ, while polished restorations from group E had a higher Ra value of 0.87 ±0.1 µ. Scanning electron micrographs of the restorations of Group E and Group C suggested a more uniform surface in Group C for both polished and unpolished surfaces, although this was more obvious with profilometry. With regard to margin integrity, margin deficiency was 123.61 ±18.48 µ in Group C and 164.25 ±66.32 µ in group E. Overall the restorations from group E showed lower margin integrity when compared to restoration from group C.compared to restoration from group C.Conclusions: Group C restorations performed better than Group E restorations in this study.Student PresenterDisclosure Statement:The submitter must disclose the names of the organizations with which any author have a relationship, the nature of the relationship, and the clinical or research area involved.
