-17-EQUIA Fil3253 Comparative Evaluation of MicroleakageBetween Bulk Esthetic Materials Vs Resin Modified Glass Ionomerto Restore Class II Cavity in Primary MolarsPoster Presentation11:00 AM–12:15 PM Mar 25, 2017CC, First Floor Authors:Vellore Gopinath(Presenter)College of Dental Medicine,Universityof SharjahAbstract: Objectives: to assess the microleakageof one high-viscosity conventional glass ionomercement and a bulk fill composite resin and compare them with a resin-modified glass ionomercement in class II restorations in primary molars.class II restorations in primary molars. Methods: Standardized class II slot cavity preparations were prepared in exfoliating primary molars. Teeth were restored with one of the three tested materials (n=10): Sonic Filbulk fill composite resin (SF), EQUIA Filconventional reinforced glass ionomercement (EQF), and Vitremerresin-reinforced glass ionomercement (VT). The restorations were then subjected to thermocyclingprocedure (2000X 5-55oC 10s/min) and soaked in 1% neutralized fuschinsolution (pH: 7.4) for 24 h at 37oC. Teeth were longitudinally sectioned at a mesiodistaldirection under continuous cooling into 3 slabs 1mm in thickness and studied under a stereomicroscope for dye continuous cooling into 3 slabs 1mm in thickness and studied under a stereomicroscope for dye penetration. The data were statistically analyzed with one way analysis of variance and Turkey multiple comparisons test employing 95% (α =0.05).Results: EQF and SF showed significantly lower microleakagescores and percentage of dye penetration (%RL) when compared with Vitremerresin-reinforced glass ionomercement (VT) (p<0.001).Conclusions: Bulk filcomposite resin (SF) and high-strength conventional GIC (EQF) presented with the minimum microleakagewhich was significantly less when compared to Resin-modified GIC (VT). Fewer application steps and reduced operating time in SF and EQF systems are GIC (VT). Fewer application steps and reduced operating time in SF and EQF systems are advantages when working with children with limited attention span.Disclosure Statement:The submitter must disclose the names of the organizations with which any author have a relationship, the nature of the relationship, and the clinical or research area involved.
